New Empress DB Pipe Connects QNX® to Microsoft SQL Server® |
Greenbelt, MD - June 27, 2001 - Empress Software announces a new product, called Empress DB Pipe, designed to connect data sources residing on QNX RTOS versions 4 or 6 to Microsoft SQL Server on Windows NT® or Windows 2000®. Empress DB Pipe's key benefit is seamless data transfer from one or more QNX systems to a Microsoft SQL Server database.
Empress DB Pipe is aimed at organizations that build production systems on the QNX RTOS versions 4 or 6, and store corporate data on Microsoft SQL Server and want to include production system data in their SQL Server database. Empress DB Pipe allows ongoing transparent data transfer from one or more QNX systems to a Microsoft SQL Server database running Windows NT or Windows 2000. Thus, an end-user of the Microsoft SQL Server database accesses production system data by using the same familiar tools that connect end-user applications to the corporate database.

Empress DB Pipe is architected using I=MC2, Empress's Data Management Components and includes an Empress Connectivity license, configuration, installation and one or more customized programs to collect data on the QNX side and propagate it to the SQL Server database. Pricing starts at US $1,995 to connect a single QNX system to a single Microsoft SQL Server. Additional QNX systems can be connected at US $395 each. The Empress DB Pipe installation and configuration takes less than five working days from start to finish.
